WebCurate

The internet provides teachers and students with a wealth of learning resources but finding the most appropriate and specific resources for a particular learning outcome is difficult and time consuming for teachers.

WebCurate is being built so that teachers can store links to resources they find useful, along with notes about the resource and how they can utilise it in a classroom.

Further, they will be able to use tags to classify the resource and build collections of materials that relate to particular subjects or concepts.

Importantly WebCurate recognises that learning objects are not limited to formally produced “educational resources” but can include things such as newspaper articles, YouTube clips, blogs, teacher lesson plans and the many other less formal sources and mediums.

We also encourage teachers to create and publish their own online resources.

Over time teachers will develop curated collections of resources relating to particular subjects and topics. They will also be able to set up online groups of teachers working in the same subject areas to share resources and teaching tips. These groups can create their own discussion threads relating to shared resources and collections.

Our vision is to create supportive communities of practice within the teaching profession that will self-select the most useful, relevant and credible resources and share them with other teachers working in the same field.
